It seems there is a disproportionate move to create a society of losers. Why do I say this? Because in the creation of idols like the pop stars we see today, namely, Rhianna, Beyonce, Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, this is impacting a generation to not only emulate them, but also to compare their unique selves to these newly created demi gods. This is unfortunately not the only episode of unfortunate events leading to an under stimulating society where children are growing to be constantly compared to, starting with siblings, cousins, neighbors, class mates. In school, for example, kids are encourage to think of competitive sports as aspiring to the love the sport rather then thinking about oneself as a winner of loser. In some Asian countries, like South Korea, China, there are cosmetic operations which are design to turn an anatomically correct Asian women into Western women, together with chin “correction”, nose “correction” and eye lid “correction” all which would make these Asian women looking more Western or European features, which thanks to globalization is making more and more Asian men looking for beauty in these new looks. What we have in our hands is scores of women feeling they are not looking good enough they aspire to save money or ask parents to utilize funds to go through these surgical operation. This type of mindset is not unique to Asia, however, this year we have heard of the young man who operated himself to look like Justin Bieber. This relates to the idea that we are dealing with people who either do not accept or are unaware for the source for lack of self esteem.   Our society is breeding generations of losers. Why I say this? Because every where we look we are encoring mediocracy, while there is all kinds of reasons for people to compare each other, beauty of the concept of what is nice is just the beginning, comparisons are rampant: 1.Justin Bieber is super famous and hot, – the guy who operated himself to look like him. 2. How about the generations of people in Asia who operate themselves to look like people in Europe. [What about this idea that there is no winners] how in kids competitions we have now no winners and things like that…. Youth and children are growing up thinking they are less, and while they do think that, they will have the hardest time motivating themselves to full fill what could be their true potential and thus ending up, in the worst case scenario, as criminals, drug addicts, prostitutes, or in jobs that one does get to get by, like being a waitress, bar tender, working for fast food restaurants, or simply – which is the case with a lot of women – becoming a “house wife”. While the society continues to allow a system which does not acknowledge this as a problem and pushes all kinds of fake people – ie. the women who appeared photos hoped on magazines –  then it will unfortunate that this will continue or worsen. Even our economy would benefit, if more people were to focus on themselves, improve themselves, to have the courage, motivation , impetus and believe in themselves so they can really do what they love to do. It seems perhaps that all of the greatest people in the world have either themselves being able to see this, or had someone who saw them as this or had a network of people to see them.
